J.” Tynan (born 25th February 1992) is an American hockey player. He currently plays in the Colorado Avalanche organization of the National Hockey League (NHL). Tynan was picked to his team the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round (66th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

A free agent from the Golden Knights, Tynan agreed to a one-year, two-way, seven-figure contract to the Colorado Avalanche on July 1 January, 2019. After his very first camp of training with Avalanche, Tynan was among the final cuts to be assigned to start the 2019-20 season for the AHL affiliate The Colorado Eagles. The signing was to provide defensive depth in the team, Tynan led the Eagles in the opening games of the season, scoring 12 points over 10 games prior to being returned to the NHL by the Avalanche on the 6th of November 2019. After returning to Avalanche’s NHL as a rookie for the very first time in March 2017 Tynan returned to the team along with coach Jared Bednar from their Calder Cup winning time as The Cleveland Monsters. Tynan played his Avalanche debut with a 9-4 win over Nashville Predators on November 7, 2019. In the subsequent season of 2018-19, Tynan continued as a key player in his Wolves attack, scoring at an average of a point per game in seventy-one regular season games and also accumulating a league-leading 59 assists. Tynan also scored two goals and 13 points over 22 playoff games, guiding players of the Chicago Wolves to the Calder Cup Finals before they lost in the finals to Charlotte Checkers.
