Neil Komadoski Jr. was conceived in Chesterfield Missouri in 1982. His father, Neil Sr., played professional hockey while his mother Lauren was a stay-at-home mom. Kelly, his sister, was a skilled figure skater until her injury and then couldn’t compete. He was a hockey fan his whole life. His father was his coach and he played for the St. Louis AAA Amateur Blues. He attended high school, where he spent two years at Chaminade College in St. Louis. He lived with an Ann Arbor host family for his second year, where he pursued his hockey dream. He graduated from Pioneer High School. He was sixteen years old when he joined the USA 18 and Under National hockey team in 1998-1999. He played in 49 games, scoring 3 goals and 11 assists for a total score of 14 points. He played the following season for the US Junior National team of the United States Hockey League. He was part of 50 games, scoring 7 goals and helping to score 8 more. This gave him a total 15 points.
Komadoski was offered a scholarship by several universities, but he chose to go to Notre Dame where he played in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. He scored two goals and assisted five times as a freshman. Due to a shoulder injury, he missed nine games of his rookie season. He scored his first goal in his career against Bowling Green. He played in all 38 games as a sophomore and had only 2 goals and 9 assists, scoring 11 points. He was drafted in this year, but he decided to continue his education at college instead of playing pro ice hockey. He picked up his game during his junior season. He was a 40-game player for the Irish and led scoring with 23 assists and a goal. He was also invited to the NCAA Leadership Conference in Lake Buena Vista (Florida) during his junior year. This conference is the largest gathering of NCAA student-athletes that is not competitive. This conference is intended to improve student-athletes’ leadership and communication skills, and to empower them to be more effective leaders and motivators on their campuses. Komadoski, who was a Fighting Irish player for the final season, played in 39 games. He scored five goals and had 10 assisters for 15 points. Komadoski was an exceptional athlete, but he was also a great teacher and was twice named to the Dean’s List. He was also one of the 14 nominees for College Hockey Humanitarian Award, as a senior.
After Neil’s senior season ended, Komadoski made his professional debut with AHL Binghamton Senators. He played three games in the 2003-04 season. Komadoski, who was a rookie, played 36 games in his first professional season. He scored two goals and added one assist. Neil participated in 41 games during 2005-06 and had 5 assists, but did not score. He also earned 71 penalty minutes. He wore 68 game jerseys the following season, which was 2006-07. He had 3 goals and 4 assists, giving him a total score of 7 points for the year. He had been making steady progress over the years and hoped to one day make it to the NHL. He was an unrestricted free agent after the 2006-07 season and signed a one year contract with the St. Louis Blues. Due to a knee injury, he was unable to play in any of the Blues’ games in 2007-08. He is currently an NHL scout with the Vancouver Canucks.

Neil Grant Komadoski Jr., a Canadian-American professional hockey scout and former NHL player was born February 10, 1982 in Chesterfield Missouri. The Ottawa Senators drafted him in the third round, 81st overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He is the son former Los Angeles King and St. Louis Blues players Neil Komadoski.
Komadoski, who had previously played four seasons for Notre Dame, made his professional debut at Ottawa’s American Hockey League (AHL_ farm team, the Binghamton Senators) at the conclusion of the 2003-04 season. Komadoski, after three seasons in Binghamton was invited to the St. Louis Blues’ training camp, where he was assigned to their AHL affiliate, The Peoria Rivermen. Komadoski was forced to retire after the 2007-08 season due to a knee injury.
