Sylvanus Marshall Apps (born June 2nd 1976) is an American former professional minor league ice hockey player. the grandchild of Toronto Maple Leafs captain Syl Apps, and his son is Pittsburgh Penguins player Syl Apps Jr.

Her sister Gillian Apps won gold medals as part of his Canadian Olympic women’s ice hockey teams in 2006 and in 2010. The other sister of his, Amy Apps, was an athlete on the Canadian National women’s Soccer team and was an OUA All Star during the years 1998 as well as 1999. The cousin of his, Darren Barber, won the gold medal in coxed eights during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona as a member of the Canadian team. Barber also participated in his 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and finished 4th.

On the 22nd of July 1999, Apps III was signed as a free agent from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Apps would be playing within the American Hockey League with the St. John’s Maple Leafs, Norfolk Admirals, and Springfield Falcons. Apps would also play with the ECHL with the Jackson Bandits, and the Trenton Titans. As a part of the Trenton Titans, Apps was the captain of the team.

When he was a teen Apps was mentored at the hands of Brian Conacher, son of Toronto Maple Leafs legend Lionel Conacher at Upper Canada College. Prior to playing for the Princeton Tigers, Apps played for the St. Michael’s Buzzers in 1994-95.

Apps III was a four-time recipient of a letter at Princeton. Additionally, he was the captain for Princeton’s Princeton Tigers during the 1998-99 season. In the 2009-2010 Princeton campaign, Apps is 35th on the Tigers all-time scoring list. In his professional career Apps participated in 122 of the games scoring 30 goals and recorded 41 assists for a total of 71. Apps is ranked 11th in the majority of games played during his career at Princeton and is second in the most postseason games played during his career, with 19. On the 21st March of 1998 Apps was the goal scorer to end what was the longest Princeton game. The game lasted for 80 minutes and Princeton beat Clarkson with 5-4 to win an ECAC Championship.
