Susan Bee (born January 14 1952) is an American painter, editor and book artist that lives in New York City. in 2015 “Photograms and Altered Photos from the 1970s” were shown in the Southfirst Gallery in Brooklyn. The artist had a solo exhibition at the Accola Griefen Gallery (2013) and nine shows of her own at A.I.R. Gallery in New York. She has a B.A. in Art from Barnard College and a M.A. in Fine Arts in Art from Hunter College. She instructed at the School of Visual Arts MFA in the Art Criticism as well as the Writing program. Bee been a teacher at both the University of Pennsylvania and at Pratt Institute. Susan Bee was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship in 2014. Bee is co-editor, along with Mira Schor, of M/E/A/N/I/N/G An Anthology of Artist’s writings, theories and Criticism, featuring essays by more than 100 critics, artists, and poets. It was and published through Duke University Press in 2000. She was co-editor for M/E/A/N/I/N/G, A Journal of Contemporary Art Issues between 1986 and 1996.
