Williams explained to The Western Mail that the money will be used to pay for living expenses while she created her new collection of work in three dimensions and would mainly consist of plaster castings of the female body in all its parts. “My present work stems from a desire to visually explore and understand issues related to the feminine ideal – the desire to change body shape, the pressure to create perfection and to compromise a personal identity” she stated. Williams was inspired by a trip to Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe, where her work was removed from two galleries as it depicted women’s side-views.
In 2009, Williams went to China to investigate their gender politics and nature of communication between women and men. She was invited back in 2013 to participate in a traveling exhibit known as Open Books. The exhibit then toured Australia.
