Steven Jeffrey Seddon (born 25 December 1997) is an English footballer who is a left back in the League One club Portsmouth, on loan from Birmingham City of the Championship. The first half of the 2018-19 season on loan at League Two club Stevenage, where Stevenage earned his Football League debut, and in the second portion of 2018-19 on loan at AFC Wimbledon of League One.

In May of 2018, Seddon signed a new one-year contract, which included the option of signing a second year. Seddon was a part of the first team squad during the preseason training camp they held in Austria and was also given an assigned identification number to play in the season 2018-19. He was not a substitute in this season’s EFL Cup first-round defeat away to Reading.

Seddon made his first competitive appearance for Birmingham in the starting eleven for the opening fixture of the 2019–20 season, a visit to Brentford in the Championship. He marked his debut with a run and cross to set up Kristian Pedersen’s matchwinning header. He started twice more in the league, and provided the assist for Álvaro Giménez’ first goal for the club, in a 2–0 win against Barnsley, but played no part in the matchday squad after the end of August.

Seddon joined League One club Portsmouth on 2 January 2020 on loan until the end of the season.

Seddon was signed by League Two club Stevenage on 30 August 2018 as a loan player until January 15th, 2019. Seddon was able to make the Football League debut two days later , in the eleventh inning for the home match at Cambridge United; he was replaced at half-time, as his team went on defeat by 1-0. Seddon was involved in 25 games in his loan stint and 23 of them were in league matches.

After his contract at Stevenage ended, Seddon joined AFC Wimbledon of League One on loan until the close in the current season. Seddon was immediately inserted into the squad, and played all of the 4-1 loss at home to Barnsley however, he suffered a minor injury to his hamstring which kept him out of the following match. He was able to return to the starting eleven for the game against Sunderland and remained in the team for the remaining 16 league games, and finished with a 12 match unbeaten streak which secured his team’s League One status for the 2019-20 season.

Seddon was born in Berkshire in Berkshire, where he was educated at The Piggott School in Wargrave and later The Forest School, Winnersh The school is the partner school in Reading F.C. ‘s academy. He became a member of Reading after being noticed performing in the club’s Twyford Comets. After a test for Birmingham City in 2014, the player was offered an opportunity to receive a scholarship from the club during the summer. After being interviewed later in the year, he evaluated the strength of his left foot was weak, and he felt that he required to work on his combat.

He signed his first professional contract, of two years, in April 2016. In the 2017–18 season, he trained with the first team on occasion, and was included in the travelling squad for first-team fixtures, although did not make the bench. In December, with centre-back Harlee Dean suspended, Seddon was suggested by the Birmingham Mail as a possible addition to the squad for the visit to Fulham, and on 27 January 2018, he was given a squad number and included among the substitutes for the FA Cup fourth-round visit to Premier League club Huddersfield Town. He remained unused, and later in the season was an unused substitute for two Championship matches.
