In 2006-07, Pinizzotto was the leader of in the RIT group with 44 goals, 33 assists, 13 of which were goals over just 34 games and penalty minutes of 76. He was ranked fifth in the country , with 0.91 assists per game. He was 12th overall in Division I, averaging 1.29 points per game. RIT took home the Atlantic Hockey regular season championship by virtue of an impressive Tiger attack and power play which placed second in the nation overall. Pinizzotto recorded eight points, and added 17 assists in the powerplay. Pinizzotto was the team’s captain and one of his fellow RIT Division I leaders, scoring 20 points and forty assists, totalling the score of 62 points over the 58 games he played for RIT and is known as dangerous when it comes to power play.
Pinizzotto consistently shows grit and two-way play with a combination of physicality and scoring having 38 goals, 72 assists, 110 points, and 408 penalty minutes in his 234 career AHL games with Chicago and Hershey where he was a strong contributor for their 2009 and 2010 Calder Cup Championship.
In March 2009, Pinizzotto was called up to the Capitals as an injury reserve. Despite taking part in the pre-game warmup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 23, he remained on standby. By the latter part of the season was sent back to Hershey, without appearing for the Capitals, and remained for duration of the season.
In 2005-06, Pinizzotto joined the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tigers of the NCAA Indep. Conference in which he scored 7 assists and 5 goals over 20 games. The following season, 2006-07, was his last. RIT was a part of in the Atlantic Hockey conference, since the team was moved into at the NCAA Division 1 level, Pinizzotto scored 33 goals as well as 31 assists over 34 games.

in 2000 Pinizzotto received an invitation to participate in a Naslund Kovalchuk Nike Hockey commercial when he was just 17. Markus Naslund was a former Vancouver Canucks and Ilya Kovalchuk was the first player selected in the player in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft for the Atlanta Thrashers. In 2000-01, Pinizzotto was a member of his team, the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) Oakville Blades. The team was not as successful in the early stages being unable to participate in his chance to play in the OHL Draft due to his small stature (he was just five feet seven inches” when he signed the draft). He played in the club for four seasons, and led them to win the West Division championship in 2003-2004. In the 2004-05 season, Pinizzotto was named captain of the team. the Most Valuable player of the year. He led by scoring 33 goals with 62 assists to earn 95 points. Pinizzotto recorded 78 goals with 215 points, 137 assists in 170 games, 457 penalty minutes, and was the top player with the best average plus-minus score during his time as a member of the Blades. This was enough to Tigers coach Wayne Wilson of the Rochester Institute of Technology to award Pinizzotto the NCAA Scholarship for ice hockey.
In March 2007, after playing only 2 years with RIT, Pinizzotto became the first RIT ice hockey player to sign a National Hockey League (NHL) contract shortly after RIT Coach Wayne Wilson told Pinizzotto to call Steve Richmond of the Washington Capitals He signed a two-year entry level contract with the Washington Capitals in March 2007. In later years Pinizzotto played with and against the Vancouver Canucks Chris Tanev also an RIT alumni. Beginning the 2007–08 season with the Washington Capitals’ ECHL farm team, the South Carolina Stingrays where recorded 15 goals, 17 assists for 32 points in 40 games and 58 penalty minutes.
