Steven “Big Mac” MacIntyre (born August 8 in 1980) is an Canadian professional left winger in ice hockey who is a member of the Carolina Thunderbirds in the Federal Hockey League and is referred to for his role as an enforcer.
The 3rd of July, 2008 MacIntyre signed as a free agency for the Florida Panthers, having never played in an NHL game in an Rangers uniform. It would turn out to be his first time playing in Florida (before return in 2009). MacIntyre was assigned to the minor league affiliate The Rochester Americans on waivers, on the 28th of September, 2008. He was subsequently picked off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers two days later on September 30. MacIntyre immediately made an impact in Edmonton when he played the first NHL game on the third of October against the Oilers rivals from the other side Calgary Flames. Calgary Flames – earning himself seven time in the box, two minutes of roughing up and five minutes more for fighting with Jim Vandermeer.
On July 2, 2010, Steve MacIntyre signed a 1-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers, returning to the team he started his NHL career with. In an interview on The Team 1260 MacIntyre said “he was excited to be back” and was “very thankful” at the chance for another opportunity to play for the Oilers.
On July 1, 2011, MacIntyre became a free agent. He later signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 12.
On the 11th of November in 2008 the Oilers made MacIntyre on their injured Reserve (IR) List suffering from an injured orbital bone which he suffered from an earlier fight in a match against The Pittsburgh Penguins with fellow NHL “heavyweight” Eric Godard. MacIntyre would then miss the following 26 games. MacIntyre would be back on the 11th of January, 2009, when the team scored winning 2-1 against the St. Louis Blues. Two days later, on the 13th of January, MacIntyre scored the first NHL goal in a 5-2 win against the Washington Capitals. MacIntyre scored another goal in the 2008-09 season . He finished with a total of two points in 22 games, scoring forty penalty minutes.

MacIntyre joined MacIntyre’s Continental Elite Hockey League (CEHL) in 2001, having being recognized as Canada’s top athletes on the Major Junior circles. MacIntyre was drafted by the Tri-City Hurricanes in Bay City, Michigan, who later changed their name to known as the Bay County Blizzard after a mid- season transfer of the team by its original owners Mike Killbreath. MacIntyre was the leader of to the top spot in the CEHL with penalty time, and was given a lifetime ban in the season due to his involvement in a savage confrontation in the midst of a fight with his team, the Detroit Lightning. Banned by CEHL, MacIntyre signed with the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League (UHL) and MacIntyre helped them win their UHL’s Colonial Cup, as playoff champions.
In May of 2003 He was hired with the New York Rangers, after having spent for two years as the top sought-after player within the UHL. He would then spend the next two years with the Rangers Minor league affiliated teams, which included the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Charlotte Checkers, before having brief spells with the Quad City Mallards as well as the Providence Bruins, in 2006-07 and 2007-08, respectively.
On November 9, 2009, he was assigned to the Oilers’ minor league affiliate, the Springfield Falcons on waivers, after playing bit parts in 4 games. However, he would be picked up a day later, on November 10, by his former team, the Florida Panthers. He would spend the rest of the 2009–10 season between the Panthers and their AHL affiliates, the Rochester Americans, helping the Americans reach the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs.
