Steve Elworthy is one of the most popular and richest South African- Cricketer who was born on February 23, 1965 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Steven Elworthy, MBE (born 23 February 1965) is an ex- South African international cricketer who has been in administration for Cricket South Africa and the England and Wales Cricket Board since retiring from playing cricket.
Then in South Africa he played for Northerns for 14 seasons of his career. In 2000-01, he was South Africa’s most prolific wicket-taker of South African first class cricket with 52 wickets at 18.11. He was selected as one of five South African Cricket Annual Cricketers of the Year in 2002. He was able to leave the Northerns team in 2003, effectively announcing the end of his career as a pro.
Ten years after first class cricket, Elworthy was able to make his One Day International (ODI) debut at the age of 32 for South Africa on April 3 1998 in the match against Pakistan. His debut in the Test was later in the year, on the 23rd of July against England in Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Elworthy has also been a part of English County Cricket. In 1996, he played an entire season in Lancashire. It was a challenging year, with only modest success on the field (26 wickets in 41) which culminated with being dismissed on the day at the B&H Cup Final. In 2003, he stepped in during six months at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club while the club’s foreign players on full- time basis Stuart MacGill and Chris Cairns completed their the international obligations.
He then played in a total of four Test matches as well as 39ODI games for South Africa between 1998 and 2002.
Since his retirement Elworthy has become a successful cricket administrator as Cricket South Africa’s commercial and communications manager. He was appointed as tournament director for the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa in 2007. In February 2010 Elworthy was appointed as Director of Marketing and Communications for the England and Wales Cricket Board.
