Spencer Machacek (born October 14 1988) is an Canadian professional Ice hockey player who is currently contracted to Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

In the 2011-12 season, which was the first of the Winnipeg Jets, Machacek scored his first NHL goal on the 23rd of March of 2012 with Washington’s Michal Neuvirth. Machacek finished his season by scoring for the Jets scoring a rousing nine points in just 13 games.

On October 8, 2014, after an unsuccessful try-out with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Machacek opted to sign his first contract abroad with German club, Augsburger Panther of the DEL.

In his first full season with Blue Jackets affiliate, the Springfield Falcons in the 2013–14 season, Machacek was again traded on February 6, 2014, to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Paul Thompson.

After the opening round of the 2008 WHL playoffs He was signed to his very first NHL deal in the Thrashers on March 28th the 28th of March, 2008. In the Thrashers practice camp during the season 2008/09 they assigned him for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) on the 27th of September. At the end of the season Machacek was invited into the Thrashers and made his NHL debut on March 16, 2009 with a 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals recording 7 minutes and 21 seconds of play time. Machacek played in two games for the Thrashers in his first professional season, scoring 48 points over 77 games of the AHL.

Machacek started his junior career during his team, the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He scored 45 points during the first two seasons and played crucial roles in the Giants in the 2007 President’s Cup and 2007 Memorial Cup championships.

He was also named the Player of the Month in February following for 27 points over 14 games.

In the lockout shortened 2012–13 season, whilst with affiliate the St. John’s IceCaps, he was traded by the Jets to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Tomas Kubalik on March 10, 2013.
