Matthew “Slim” Moon (born on October 15th 1967) is an American musician, and is the creator of the American independent music label Kill Rock Stars (KRS). The label also has a counterpart label 5 Rue Christine. 5 Rue Christine. Slim operated KRS from 1991 until 2006 between 1991 and 2006. During that the period KRS released albums by a myriad of artists, including Sleater-Kinney Elliott Smith, The Decemberists, Miranda July, Bikini Kill, Unwound, Huggy Bear, The Gossip, and Linda Perry. Slim as well as his partner Portia Sabin who is the one who manages KRS has decided to put 5RC go into hibernation, and in 2007, 5RC released its final album to date.

Moon quit Rykodisc at the end of July in 2008, to pursue the management of artists full-time at Shotclock Management, a company that he and his wife own together. Moon is also co-founder and Director of Promotions of Portland Folk Festival. Portland Folk Festival, which held its first event in 2010.

In June 2007 Moon was dismissed from his job at Nonesuch as part of the corporate reductions within Warner Music Group. The next day, Moon was named senior director of A&R and artistic development at Rykodisc. which is also part of WMG.

Moon was a high school graduate in Seattle in 1986. Danny Goldberg has described him as being part members of “a group of obsessed Melvins fans” who would go to every show that the band performed within the driving distance. I made a really clean break. I stopped going to shows. Then I walked into the world of ministry, and have sort of made completely new friends, new relationships. Most of the people who knew me for twenty years don’t know what I’m doing now, and most of the people I know now have no idea what I did before I got here.”
