Matthieu Le Carpentier (French pronunciation: [matjo l@ kaRpatje] ; born 22 September 1981 in Herouville-Saint-Clair, Lower Normandy), better known by his stage name Skread (/s k r e d / ), is a French record producer, songwriter and musician. He has composed and recorded for many artists, most notably Orelsan Booba, Diam’s Rohff, Sinik and Nessbeal among other. He has been involved in projects featuring young singer Isleym as well as the rappers El Matador, Brasco and the rap group Nysay. He also is co-founder on the label 7th Magnitude, to which Orelsan and Nessbeal are signed. He is also featured on a variety of the music videos featuring Orelsan.

On the 8th of July, 2013 the artist published Instrus, Vol. 2. It was the second volume in the Instrus series that showcases his work in collaboration with Orelsan along with Nessbeal.

The year 2006 was the time that Skread created his French hip hop as well as R&B label 7th Magnitude with Ablaye, his best friend and part of the Orelsan’s entourage. The label was instrumental in the creation of Orelsan and has seen Skread making and releasing Perdu D’avance, as well as the hugely popular Le Chant des sirenes. The label also launched Nessbeal’s NE2S and Selection natural, and singer Isleym’s debut album, Ou ca we mene.

Le Carpentier was born in Herouville-Saint-Clair, a suburb in the city of Caen, France. He was a student at the Ecole de Management de Normandie which is where, in the year 2000, he was introduced to French singers Orelsan And Gringe. He composed songs for Orelsan and Gringe, and they formed a group called Casseurs Flowters (officially made up of Orelsan and Gringe).

Since 2004, most notably, with his release Pantheon from Booba featuring the songs “Tallac” and “Baby” which featured Nessbeal. The year 2005 saw him debuted an album compilation entitled Instrus which contained instrumentals of popular songs that he created. He released the album in 2006 and produced alongside Kilomaitre Elyo on the song “La Boulette” from Diam’s. The song was named “Best francophone song” for 2006 at the NRJ Music Awards.
