At that point, they relocated in Deerfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She went to Deerfield High School and graduated in 1988. She went on to Purdue University, but graduated from the University of Illinois, earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in psychology. Later, she obtained the Master of Science degree in industrial relations at Loyola University Chicago. As a worker for a manufacturing firm developing diversification programs and programs that their staff members could benefit from and their families, she continued her education at Loyola University Chicago which is where she graduated with the Master of Science degree in industrial relations. After her degree was completed, she began working for her father’s company manufacturing. After his death, she – at 24 , she became the CEO. She studied marketing and business in lieu of schooling her how to write. Elkeles has a daughter and a son. In 2014, Elkeles was divorced from her husband.

Simone Elkeles (born April 24 1970) was an American author who is best known for her teenage romance Perfect Chemistry trilogy and How To Ruin trilogy. She is an NY Times Bestselling young adult writer. Simone was awarded the 2010 RITA Award for Best Young Adult Romance from the Romance Writers of America for her novel Perfect Chemistry. A sequel of Perfect Chemistry, Rules of Attraction was featured at USA Today Best Sellers List as well as The New York Times Best Sellers List.

Simone began working on her book in 2000 however she was not able to sign the book immediately. When she finished How to Ruin a Summer Vacation Elkeles began to send her novel to agents. After five years of looking, Elkeles finally found an agent, Nadia Cornier, who was a fan of How to Ruin a Summer Vacation and was willing to sign the book. Her agent sold Simone’s initial three books , but she later broke up with her agent and found her new agent Kristin Nelson. Nelson was capable of taking Simone up to “the next level”. Simone has since been awarded numerous accolades and awards for her writing, including being named the Author Of The Year in the Illinois Association of Teachers of English.
