She is currently in her second term representing the people of the Anyaa/Sowutuom region. She is not seeking re-election for the 2020 general election and the parliament elections.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey worked with her colleagues to support with the Community Parliament in its advisory function in examining issues affecting the region, specifically on issues related to human rights fundamentals and freedom, and also providing suggestions to organs and institutions of ECOWAS. The Hon Minister was also Vice-Chair on the NEPAD and the APRM Committees.
