Jorge Lanata (born 12 September 1960 in Mar del Plata) is a Argentine journalist and writer who was raised in Mar del Plata in 1960. He co-founded the left-wing Argentine paper Pagina 12 in 1987 and co-founded the daily newspaper Critica de la Argentina on March 2, 2008 and served as the director of the newspaper until April 4 in 2009. His father was Agustin Lanata who was a famous footballer from the second decade of the 20th century.

He directed Veintitres (Twenty-Three) magazine. He was host of Dia D (D-day), the most watched TV show that earned a Martin Fierro award for best TV show with a journalistic theme in 1996 and 1997 and the Clarin Award for best TV show in 2003. Lanata himself won an Marin Fierro Award as the best Journalistic TV host in 1996 1997, 2004 and 1996.

He produced the documentary series BRIC: The New World in 2010.
