Shannon Nevin (born 13 February 1976) is an Australian former professional rugby league player who played for the Sea Eagles of Manly Warringah as well as the Balmain Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL) as well as its predecessor, the Australian Rugby League (ARL).

Nevin was to play another 9 games with Manly during 1997’s ARL season. The Sea Eagles made amends for the previous year’s disappointment by beating St George 20-8 in the Grand Final at the SFS. Nevin scored his first attempt in the top division in the Manly’s 44-6 defeat of Souths in the first round of the season.

Manly Coach Bob Fulton gave Nevin his first grade debut on his bench position for Manly during their win of 48-18 against South Sydney at the Sydney Football Stadium (SFS) in the first game of the 1995 ARL season. Nevin then spent the following 11 weeks as a reserve (during when it was the only time that the Sea Eagles first grade team didn’t lose a game) and was in the bench for the Round 12 match with The North Sydney Bears at Brookvale Oval in which Nevin scored his first points in the top grade kicks that led to the ball. After three weeks in reserve and then being called up to play the first two games of Fullback with the Sea Eagles when Ridge was not available due to his participation playing for New Zealand in a test series against France. Nevin played nine times with Manly in 1995. He played his final game of the season in the club’s qualifying final victory over Cronulla. Manly was the only team to have lost two games during the whole season, eventually lost in the Grand Final 17-4 to Sydney Bulldogs.

Newcastle Knights who were playing their first Grand Final since entering the competition in 1988. Nevin scored a try during the match to Sea Eagles. Sea Eagles, but with the score tied at 16-16, with just a few seconds left, Knights halfback Andrew Johns was able to pass on the blind side to wingsman Darren Albert who sped past the Manly defence to score beneath the posts and give Newcastle an unnerving win, 22-16. The game would turn out to Nevin’s final game with his team the Sea Eagles as he would be signed to play for Balmain during the 1998 NRL season.

In the wake of the Super League war, Ridge was signed by Auckland Warriors. Super League aligned Auckland Warriors and following his performance during 1995 and 1996 it was believed that Nevin was the first choice at Fullback at Manly for 1997. But, a disappointing pre-season as well as the addition of goal-kicking halfback Craig Field saw Fulton use an experienced, ex- NSW Origin winger Craig Hancock as Manly’s frontline fullback for the first 11 games during the campaign. Nevin was back in the first level in round 11 of the season against Balmain in Round 11 against Balmain. Danny Moore was unavailable after being picked to take part in the State of Origin for Queensland and Fulton switched Hancock to his preferred wing position. After Moore returned the same happened to Nevin back to his bench, where Nevin played the next two games as a reserve until he found himself in the reserve. Following the time that Hancock injured his ankle in the 17th Round, Nevin was finally given the fullback position and assumed goal kicking tasks from Field.

In 2014, Nevin revealed in an interview that he had suffered at least 15 concussions during his career.
