Shane Lewis Sherriff (born on 10th November, 1982) who is also referred to Shane Sherriff, also known as Shane Sherriff, is an Australian professional footballer. Typically, he is a central or left defensive player, Sherriff has also been employed on the left of the midfield. He is currently the coach of a player in the Australian soccer club Adamstown Rosebuds.
After being injured in the shoulder during the 2-1 win at home to Southend during January of 2012 Cansdell-Sherriff expressed his desire to secure an additional contract extension at Shrewsbury Town on the 16th of May 2012, Cansdell-Sherriff signed with Football League One side Preston North End after he rejected an extension at Shrewsbury. On September 25, 2013, the player joined League Two side Burton Albion with a loan agreement of three months. Then, he signed a two-year deal agreement with Burton Albion after his contract with Preston North End expired in May 2014. He was let go at the request of Burton Albion at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
On 25 July 2017, was appointed Head Coach of Australian side Adamstown Rosebuds.
In 2020, after taking a year off in 2019, Sherriff returned to playing for Adamstown Rosebud.
Cansdell-Sherriff played more than 120 matches for Shrewsbury and was the captain of the side and was also the longest-serving player for the club during the time he was in the team. On March 16, 2011, Cansdell Sherriff was selected to be part of the Australian national team to attend a training camp but he didn’t get a spot in Australian nationals.

Herrriff’s first professional team began his career at Leeds United, who spotted him in Leeds United’s New South Wales academy team. He spent three years with the club, but he only played in the first team in a loan deal at Rochdale at the end of 2002. Sherriff was let go by Leeds in the midst of Leeds’ financial crisis in 2003 and was then signed by Danish Superliga side AGF Aarhus. In the following three years, living in Denmark, Sherriff was signed by Tranmere Rovers at the beginning of the 2006/07 season , after impressed the manager Ronnie Moore on trial and was appointed captain of the club with more than 40 appearances in his first season. In the 2007/08 season, injury to club’s top preferred wingsmen Steve Davies and Chris Shuker and the addition to replace Andy Taylor at left back led to Sherriff frequently playing on the left of the midfield.
On June 28, 2008, the player signed with Football League Two team Shrewsbury Town with a two-year deal. The goal he scored in the first day of his new job, which was a thunderbolt of 40 yards in the 4-0 win against Macclesfield Town on 9 August 2008. He became a regular in the first team at the club and in June of 2010 the club signed him to a new two-year deal for the team.
On 13 July 2016, Cansdell-Sheriff signed for Manly United FC in National Premier Leagues NSW. He stated his ambition of easing into the coaching profession as the main reason of his joining, saying, “I will be working on my coaching experience where I can. I would like to go into management once I finish playing so while I continue to play I will continue to learn as a player and how various coaching ideas effect players.”
