In the army, he was employed in an industrial plant. In 1977, he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Institute of Law, Faculty of Law. In 1981 he did the Higher Courses of the KGB. Since 1990, he’s resided in Minsk and received academic degrees such as that of the Doctor of Law (1999) and Prof. (2003). He was appointed a member of the Writers Association of Russia (URU) in 1994. Trakhimenok began his writing career in the latter half of the 1980s, mostly in the realm of detective and adventure novels. His short stories were published in the magazine “Youth of Siberia”, later in the magazines “Siberian Lights”, “Neman”, “Spring”, “Nemiga”, “Adventurer”, “Private Life”, “Belarusian Thought” (Minsk), “Novel-Magazine of the XXIst Century”, “Our Contemporary”, “Don” (Rostov-on-Don), “Rising-up” (Voronezh), “Space” (Alma- Ata), “Ladoga” (St. Petersburg), “Lights of Kuzbass” (Kemerovo), “The Slav” (Kharkov), and so on. In his first novel “The Hostage” (1978) it described the first signs of terrorism in Russia. In the novel, the hostages weren’t the only ones to have been taken by criminals as were those who were forced to release them as they were on duty and they were not prepared to deal with this. However, this novel was released only in 1988. Some of the Trakhimenok’s short stories as well as short novels focus on the people’s fates and the events in his time during the Second World War. For instance the tales in Trakhimenok’s “military prose” (“Lieutenant Priblagin’s Case”, “Crumbs”, “Dearest kryvinka”, “To the official march”).Very captivating are his stories that deal with the subject “Children and War” (“Crumbs”, “Dearest kryvinka”, “Belli puerri”). There are author’s essays on the topic in addition (“War within the lenses of is a dripping water”, “A drop in the ocean of victory” and many more. In his socio-psychological realistic tales “Vanity of vanities”, “Bird Cherry Bloomed”, “The Prosecutor’s Blood”, “The Driver”, “A Terrible Word “Cinema”, ” A Needle in the Square”, “Loop of Morbut” The author demonstrates the understanding of psychological issues of characters that have clearly stated motives of their behavior. The writer is known as Master of Acute plot since the majority of his stories are within the genre of detective fiction.
