Sendoa Agirre Basterretxea (born 31 December 1975 in Bilbao, Biscay), commonly referred to simply as Sendoa is a Spanish retired footballer who was an attack midfielder.

In July, Sendoa was named as Athletic Bilbao’s first-team match delegate, a managerial job he’d been performing during the past four seasons at Alaves and was later replaced by Andoni Imaz at Athletic.

On the 28th of August, 2010 Sendoa was a part of the opening game of the 2010-11 season in a 0-1 loss at home to Athletic Bilbao, thus becoming the oldest rookie to ever play in the Spanish first division (aged 34 years and eight months). On the 7th of May of the same year the player got his goal for the first time in the tournament as Hercules were defeated by a score of 3-1 in a game against Racing de Santander and were eventually relegated. He scored an additional goal in the subsequent match, a 2-2 draw with RCD Mallorca, which certified the fate of the team. He ended his playing career with a time of two years with Deportivo Alaves, helping the club climb up to the third division in 2012-13.

After completing his football formation with Basque bigwigs Athletic Bilbao, Sendoa spent many years playing at the level amateur in the region on loan. He was back with his first squad in the year 1998 however, he only played in pre- season matches in the direction of Luis Fernandez, going on to play exclusively for the reserve team for the next two seasons.
