Scott Schweitzer (born August 12 1971 Rahway, New Jersey) is a American soccer coach, as well as a the former player of professional football. He was for two years the head coach for Carolina RailHawks FC.
Schweitzer was a part of his current team, the Rochester Rhinos of USL-1 in 1998. In his time with the Rhinos He won three championships for the USL-1 (1998 2000, 1999) as well as a U.S. Open Cup title (1999). Personally Schweitzer was selected for the USL-1 First Team four times during his time with the Rhinos and was twice selected as the First Division Defender of the Year.
On October 11, 2006, Schweitzer was introduced as the first head coach of the Carolina RailHawks, a USL-1 expansion franchise that will start play in 2007. The RailHawks job is Schweitzer’s first as a head coach of a professional soccer team. In October 2008, the RailHawks announced that Schweitzer would no longer continue as head coach. During his two years as coach of Carolina, he took the team to a 24-24-24.
After his retirement as a player, Schweitzer took a job as a full-time coach and director of Next Level Academy in Morrisville, North Carolina He also served as an assistant coach of the Raleigh Elite PDL squad for the 2006 season.
Alongside his outdoor activities, Schweitzer was also a professional indoor soccer player. He played for eight seasons with the Cleveland Crunch of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) (and later the MISL). He was selected as a member of the NPSL All-Rookie Team in the 1994-95 season and was selected as the Crunch’s Player of year in the same season. He was four times an NPSL All-Star and also won 2 league titles with the Crunch in the year 1996 and 1999 when Schweitzer scored the winning goal in what would later turn out to be his final NPSL finals game. In 2004-05, Schweitzer was a part of one season for Blast of Baltimore. Baltimore Blast of the MISL.

Schweitzer was a four-year letterwinner from N.C. State University. He was two-time All-American (second squad in the year 1991, and first group in the year 1992) and was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in the year 1992. He was part of the Wolfpack team that reached in the 90 NCAA Final Four. Schweitzer played as a part of the U.S. World University Games Team between 1992 and 1994. The year 2002 was the first time he made it for the ACC’s 50th anniversary football team for men.
Schweitzer started his professional career at the age of 23 in France between 1993 and 1994, when he was a player with Stade Brestois 29 and En Avant Guingamp of the French Third Division. Following his return from France Schweitzer was a part of only one year (1995) in the Atlanta Ruckus of the American Professional Soccer League (the precursor of the A-League) before moving with the Carolina Dynamo of the United Soccer Leagues in 1996. As of 1997, Schweitzer received a place on the USL-1 First Team.
After six seasons with Rochester, Schweitzer left to join the rival Syracuse Salty Dogs in 2004. Following the suspension of the Syrcause franchise at the end of the season, Schweitzer followed Salty Dogs head coach Laurie Calloway back to Rochester, playing one final season with the Rhinos in 2005, when he served as team captain. After the season, the team named him to their all-time Rhinos squad in celebration of the franchise’s tenth anniversary. Schweitzer retired from professional soccer at the end of the 2005 campaign.
