Until its dissolution in 1999, Wendland had been a committed politician in the “APPD” (Anarchist Pogo Party of Germany). Since 2005 he pursues a campaign to become leader of the German government. On 30 June 2009 he was elected into the local council of Wattenscheid, a sub district of Bochum, as a candidate without party on the Die Linke (Left Party) list.
