Kenneth Scott Hannan (born January 23rd 1979) is a Canadian former professional hockey player. Hannan was raised in Richmond, British Columbia, but was raised within Surrey, British Columbia.
Hannan was a key player in the Sharks defence team during the 2000-01 season. He became a skilled defensive player who was tough, tough and a shut-down who was selected for in the NHL All-Star Game for the Western Conference in the 2003-04 season. Hannan was a top defenceman in the 2004 Stanley Cup playoffs, gaining recognition for his work in stopping the star Colorado Avalanche center Peter Forsberg in the Western Conference Semi-final against Colorado. Hannan was playing the 500th NHL game towards the end of the 2006-07 campaign in an 8-3 loss against Colorado Avalanche at the end of March 19th, 2007.
On August 13, 2011, the Calgary Flames signed Hannan as a free agent to a one- year, $1 million contract.
On August 17, 2012, the Nashville Predators signed Hannan as a free agent to a one-year, $1 million contract.

When he was a kid, Hannan played in the 1992 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament as a player on a minor ice hockey squad of Surrey, British Columbia.
Hannan was picked during the initial round of 1997’s NHL Entry Draft, 23rd overall from the San Jose Sharks from the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Hannan made his debut as a professional in the 1998-99 season for the Sharks with only five matches before returning to the Rockets for the final calendar year as an eligible junior. Hannan later split the 1999-2000 season, which was his first professional season in full with the Sharks as well as the team’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate The Kentucky Thoroughblades.
On November 30, 2010, Hannan was traded from Colorado to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Tomáš Fleischmann.
