Glennie was selected in his team the Brandon Wheat Kings in the second round, which was 29th overall, in the Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft. Glennie played his final season as a minor hockey player with his team, the Winnipeg Wild of the Manitoba Midget Hockey League. In his first campaign with the Wild in 2007-08 Glennie was third in goals scored by the club and scored 26 goals while completing the season with the fifth highest points total of 58. The playoffs were a success, Glennie only scored one point in just six games when Brandon fell in the opening round of playoffs. In his second season with Brandon, Glennie would miss 15 games due to injuries, but he improved his performance from his first season in which Glennie scored 27 goal and 70 point, again finishing in the top five of scoring as a team. Glennie had a dazzling performance in the playoffs, matching Brayden Schenn as the top team scorer with 18 points over 12 games in the postseason. Glennie was a highly rated prospect going into the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, ending in 7th place among everyone North American skaters by the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau. Glennie was selected at the beginning of round, ranked 8th overall, by the Dallas Stars.

He played in four games but scoring zero points. Glennie was able to make the National Hockey League (NHL) debut in the 2011-12 season, playing for the Dallas Stars. He only played one game but did not score any points. Except for only game played at an NHL at the level of Glennie is a professional for the entirety of his career playing for the Texas Stars. In this season’s 2013-14 AHL season Glennie recorded a personal-best 15 goals as well as 28 points during the regular season. He was also credited having 10 points (six goals and four assists) in the postseason , en way to winning the Stars’ Calder Cup Championship run. This resulted in an extension of one year on the contract.
After sitting out the entirety of the 2015–16 season as a free agent in order to fully recuperate from injury, Glennie accepted an invite to try-out with hometown club, the Manitoba Moose on September 21, 2016. After a successful training camp with the Moose, Glennie resumed his professional career in signing a one-year deal on October 14, 2016.
