Large (born 22nd February 1955) is an American intelligence analyst and officer who served as the fifteenth director of the National Reconnaissance Office from 2007 until 2009. He was previously the Principal Director’s Deputy at the National Reconnaissance Office from April until October 2007 and was CCIA’s Assistant Director of Science and Technology.

In August 2001, Large served as the Assistant Director of the CIA’s Division in charge of Science and Technology. After his appointment the director returned into the NRO to become Director of the Imagery Systems Acquisition and Operations Directorate in July 2003 through November 2006. Large was appointed the second principal Director and Deputy Director for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and Deputy Assistant to Secretary of the Air Force (Intelligence Space Technology) on April 2nd 2007. Prior to this appointment, he served as Director of the Source Operations and Management Directorate at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA). He announced his resignation from the position of DNRO on April 8th, 2009 and became effective April 18, 2009.

In the following year, Large was appointed the deputy chief of programs in the CIA Directorate of Operations’ Technical Management Office. In this role he assisted in the management of the national joint program, while helping to develop the program’s strategy and the management of the program. He was appointed as the Director of the Clandestine Signals Intelligence Operations Group within the Office of Technical Collection within the CIA’s Directorate of Science and Technology. In his time there, he was responsible for the creation and execution of crucial collection processes to the Intelligence Community. Then, in September of 2000, he took on the role of the Director-in- Chief for the Office of Technical Collection.
