Another time, Basiuk was not settling properly, and he was relegated to next season with Bakersfield Condors. Basiuk performed well with the Condors and contributed more than one point per other game as a defence player and was chosen to take part at the 2006 All-Star Game in Fresno, California. However, he was unable to play the entire season with one team. Instead, he was selected from the Utah Grizzlies, where Basiuk ended the season with four scores and 26 assists, for 30 points. He also played in four play-off gamesand recorded one assist against ultimate champions, the Alaska Aces.

In his first season in Sheffield, Basiuk would prove to be a reliable and physical defenceman and his play helped the team to both the league and play off titles. Basiuk’s contract was one of the first to be renewed by Steelers’ head coach David Matsos in the summer of 2009.

Basiuk was moving around during the off-season, this time to Europe and at the end of the season, he joined The Manchester Phoenix, a team that plays in the EIHL which is the top level of ice hockey played by clubs in Britain. Basiuk was a worthy choice for the coach and player Tony Hand, who made Basiuk captain of the team. Scott was a regular during his first season at Manchester. His strong defensive game coupled with his innate attacking abilities meant that Basiuk scored 21 points. This performance, along with his physical game, led to Basiuk become a popular choice with Phoenix fans. A great first season convinced Hand to renew the contract of Basiuk and make the club captain again. After a couple of games into the campaign, Basiuk received additional responsibility as assistant coach and player.

In Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Basiuk started his professional career in

2000. He played at the college levels for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Basiuk had four successful years at RPI and made 128 NCAA appearances with 33 goals as well as 36 assists to earn 59 points. In his final season, he had his most successful year, scoring 11 goals as well as 15 assists to score 26 points. During that time Basiuk signed a contract in Sheffield to play hockey and go back to school to get his MBA from the University of Sheffield.
