He won a Gold medal at the 1982 Asian Games and a Bronze medalist at the 1974’s Asian Games.Today Satpal Singh is more well-known for his coaching of two-time Olympic medalists Sushil Kumar as well as Priyanshu Negi.
Satpal is now the Assistant Director for Education, Delhi. In addition, he is chief patron of the School Games Federation of India. He also runs an Akhada to coach wrestling together with his coach Virender Singh since 1988 at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. He coached two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, for the Beijing Olympics 2008 and the London Olympics in 2012.
