Murray was born on April 28 1988, in Faribault, Minnesota to Andy Murray and Ruth Murray and played hockey at Shattuck Saint Mary’s. Murray’s father, coach and head of Western Michigan Broncos men’s ice hockey team as well as an ex- head coach with the NHL St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings hockey teams. Their brothers Brady as well as Jordy have also been hockey players. Brady was a part of Jordy on the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team. She was a 5th round draft selection for the Los Angeles Kings in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Jordy has also been a part of the level of collegiate, playing in her home University of Wisconsin. Murray as well as her two brothers are dual citizens of Canada and the United States.

On June 5, 2019, her name was announced as head coach for the Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota women’s hockey team.
