Faber majored in women’s study in the department of women’s studies at New Hampshire University. She played for in the New Hampshire Wildcats women’s ice hockey team within Hockey East from 2005-09, playing in 133 games and scoring 189 total points and was selected as an Hockey East First Team All Star during each of her previous three seasons. In 2005-06, she was No. 3 in the country in scoring for rookies. In 2006, she was Hockey East Rookie of the Year. The 2007-08 season was when Faber made the NCAA record (since tied) for the most goals that won games in a single season, with 13. The 5th top scoring player in NHU history, scoring scores of 189 in the course of 143 games.
Faber is a native of Mount Sinai, New York and was born in New York, and is Jewish. His father, Scott Faber, was a letterwinner in hockey in the Rochester Institute of Technology, and her brother Matt was a hockey player in Johnson & Wales University. She was a student at Northwood School, where she was a hockey player (recording 75 points, the score of 50 goals with 25 assists during their senior season) as well as soccer and lacrosse. She graduated in 2005.
From 2015-18, she has played for the Connecticut Whale of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) as their forward and captain. In 2018, she was selected to the All Star team.
