In June 2004, Fermana purchased Mastronunzio and then re-sold it the club to Serie C1 side Frosinone along with Guido Di Deo. The club made the playoffs for promotion twice and also made it to the finals in 2006. However, he was not included from the Frosinone’s Serie B plan, only played four Serie B appearances. Mastronunzio was named a captain for the Azzurrini U16” at the 1996 UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship qualifying. He was replaced by Alessandro Sgrigna and partnered with Massimo Maccarone for his first match on the 4th of October, 1995. The first match of the qualifying tournament, Azzurrini 1-1 draw with Hungary. He was in the fourth and final match against Israel in the place of Carlo Cardascio at half time and joined by Maccarone as well as Riccardo Ramazzotti to help strengthen the attack.
