The Green Bay Packers drafted Rondell Mealey in the seventh round (252nd overall) of 2000’s NFL Draft. Mealey was a Packer between 2000 and 2002. He was primarily a backup running back, but he also played on special teams. Mealey saw playing time in 13 games during three seasons. In 2002, Mealey made his NFL debut in September. In September 2002, Mealey was put on waivers by Packers.
Mealey ran for 664 yards in 1997, his sophomore season. He also scored 7 touchdowns. After the regular season Mealey performed in the 1997 Independence Bowl against Notre Dame. This performance earned him induction into the Independence Bowl Hall of Fame. LSU lost 6-3 at halftime. Mealey, filling in for injured Kevin Faulk and rushing for 222 yards, ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns to help LSU win 27-9.
