Me2/ is the only international organization that specializes in classical music for people with mental illness. He lives with Caroline, his wife in Malden, Massachusetts.

Me2/ was founded in Burlington, Vermont as its flagship orchestra in September 2011. The organization grew three years later to include an orchestra, which quickly became its central hub. Braunstein is the Music Director and Conductor for both orchestras. Since then, the organization has grown to include a second orchestra in Manchester, NH, and a flute choir in Boston, MA.

Braunstein was diagnosed in 1985 with bipolar disorder. His career was full of ups and downs, often following the debilitating depression and exhilarating mania that is associated with bipolar disorder. He decided to make his own outfit in 2011 for those with mental illness and those supporting the social mission to fight stigma.
