Romain Larrieu is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 31, 1976 in Mont-de-Marsan, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Romain Larrieu, a former professional footballer from France, was born 31 August 1976. He played as a goalkeeper. He was born in Mont-de-Marsan and has been a part of the Football League for Plymouth Argyle Gillingham, Yeovil Town, and Gillingham. He was also a part of Ligue 2 for Valence and was registered last year with semi-professional South West Peninsula League club Camelford.
Larrieu was disappointed in the 2007-08 season. McCormick remained the number one goalkeeper so Larrieu was loaned to Yeovil Town, where he played six games in the league. He returned to Plymouth after displaying impressive form and was able to establish himself as the number-one goalkeeper until Christmas. However, a second bout with ill health meant that he couldn’t play the remainder of the season.
In September 2011, Larrieu was appointed first team player-coach to caretaker manager Carl Fletcher following the dismissal of Peter Reid on a temporary basis. The pair took over permanently in November. In May 2012, the club confirmed that Larrieu had signed a rolling 12-month contract to become the club’s assistant manager. Larrieu served as caretaker manager for one game in January 2013 after Fletcher was sacked and continued as assistant manager when John Sheridan joined the club. He was released from his contract in May after more than 12 years of service to the club. Larrieu is now looking for offers from other clubs.
Larrieu began the 2008–09 season behind former Arsenal man Graham Stack, but returned to the side in the 2–1 win at Watford and kept his place for the remainder of the season, proving to be as influential as ever in his 40 league appearances. In recognition of his performances throughout the season, Larrieu was voted as Plymouth Argyle Player of the Year by the club’s supporters. As of the 2009–10 season he was appointed the club captain. Larrieu was sent off in the final game of the 2010-11 in English football season for deliberate handball. On 5 May 2012, Larrieu announced that the club’s final match of the 2011–12 campaign against Cheltenham Town would be his last as a Plymouth Argyle player, allowing him to concentrate on his coaching duties.
Larrieu was back as the first choice goalkeeper in 2005-06, playing in 45 of 46 league matches. He put in another impressive performance. He was diagnosed with testicular carcinoma in 2006-07 and was released from hospital to be on loan to Gillingham.

He moved on to ASOA Valence, where he played alongside David Friio (a future Plymouth player), until they were relegated into the French Third Division. Friio was also released in 2000.
Larrieu was unexpectedly chosen first for the 2001-02 season. However, this decision proved to have been a masterstroke. Plymouth was crowned champions in Division Three (now League 2) thanks to Larrieu’s 28 goals and 27 clean sheets (a club record), as well as many fine saves. He was also named the PFA Division Three player of the Year. As a fan favorite at Home Park, he was once again the first choice for 2002-03 season. He was then linked to Arsenal, the Premiership champions. After sustaining injuries to his knee ligaments, his 2003-04 season was ended after six games. Argyle was promoted from Division 2 (now League 1) in that season. In 2004-05, he shared goalkeeping duties in the Championship with Luke McCormick.
He made his debut for Gillingham in a 2–0 away defeat to Swansea City on 23 January 2007. What was originally intended to be a short-term loan was extended until mid-April, because of injury to Gillingham goalkeeper Kelvin Jack.
