Balbi began playing basketball in the youth clubs of Club Villa Belgrano, in the city of Junin at the age of 5 years old. He also played for Los Indios de Junin at the junior level before joining Ciclista Juninense, where he made his debut in Argentina’s top league called known as the Liga Nacional de Basquet (LNB) in January 14th, 2007 with Regatas Corrientes. In the following season, Ciclista Juninense got relegated and was forced to compete in Argentina’s second division, which is the Torneo Nacional de Ascenso (TNA). Balbi became a pivotal player for the team, playing more often and having better performances, which saw Quimsa who was from Santiago del Estero, sign Balbi during his 2009-2010 LNB season, which was his first time playing in the Argentine premier division. The same year the player suffered a major injury that caused him to lose minutes in the next season, which ultimately caused Quimsa to end his contract. He was able to quickly find another team, San Martin de Corrientes and helped them achieve an elevation up to Argentine first division by finishing second during the Torneo Nacional de Ascenso (TNA).
Together with Argentino de Junin, he participated in his 2013-14 seasons in both the Liga Nacional de Basquet, and also the Liga Sudamericana de Basquetbol (FIBA South American League). It was an excellent season for the club and him, which saw the team reach the semi-finals of each tournament. In the 2014-2015 LNB year, the player was a regular player with Argentino de Junin, and returned to the Liga Nacional de Basquet and the Liga Sudamericana of Basquetbol. He established himself as a athlete in the highest division of the Argentinian league and also received significant coverage from the local media.
On May 23, 2016, Balbi signed with Ferro, for the Argentine 2016–17 Liga Nacional de Básquet season.
