Big Snake began the 2007-08 season with the Texas Brahmas in the Central Hockey League. After scoring eight points in twenty five games, he was traded to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees to receive the rights to forward David Masse. The trade took place on January 8, 2008. Masse was suspended by the Killer Bees at the time of the trade. Big Snake ended the season with fifteen points as a Killer Bees member, which gave him twenty-three points after fifty games.
Big Snake signed with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL in August 2008 but the team did not announce the signing until January 2, 2009.
Big Snake had full intentions on continuing on with his career but a fatal mistake caused his early retirement. In 2010, he was driving along highway 901, near Ranged Rd 245, hit a young woman that was walking alongside the highway. RCMP declared in November that it was in fact Robin Big Snake who had hit and killed the 24-year-old woman and was charged with impaired driving causing death. He was set to appear in court on November 25, 2010. No further information has been released on the matter.
Big Snake was briefly present at Detroit Red Wings training camp during the 2005-06 season. He later joined the Rockford Icehogs. Apart from two brief recalls by the Milwaukee Admirals in 2005, Big Snake proved his ability to score and fight. He posted career highs of goals (27), assists (19), point (46), penalty minutes (423), and points (46). In 2006-07 UHL season, Big Snake remained with the Icehogs. He scored 42 points in 67 games while accumulating 330 penalties minutes. Big Snake was the Icehogs’ all-time leader in penalty minutes.

Big Snake was 16 years old when he joined the hockey community as a player for the Airdrie Bantam AAA in 1999-2000. In 2000-2001, he moved up the hockey ladder and split his time between the Calgary Royals and Alberta Junior A (20 games) and the Regina Pats (23 games).
Big Snake began his junior hockey career in 2001 with the Vancouver Giants. He played 19 games in his second season with Giants before being traded to Moose Jaw Warriors in the 2002-03 season. Big Snake was traded to Portland Winter Hawks by Moose Jaw for Portland’s 10th-11th and 12th round selections in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft. Big Snake skated the 2003-04 season for the WHL’s Portland Winter Hawks. He reported back to the Winter Hawks following a brief appearance at the Hartford Wolfpack training camp. Big Snake fought Trevor Gillies, a veteran enforcer, while in Hartford’s training camps. After two games, Big Snake was returned to Portland and released from the team. Although Mike Williamson, the head coach of the team, refused to discuss the reasons for his release but said that it was an unresolved matter and involved something that “went back a while”. Williamson did mention that Big Snake, if he is focused and a team member, could be an asset. Big Snake signed with Owen Sound Attack, the OHL’s Owen Sound Hockey League.
Big Snake was signed by the Muskegon Lumberjacks for the 2009-10 IHL season. He scored one goal and four points in eighteen games. During his time with the Lumberjacks, he was suspended for twelve games for leaving the penalty box to fight Fort Wayne Komets forward Brad MacMillan. MacMillan received a fifteen- game suspension, the longest in the Komets’ 58-year history, and Big Snake received 12 games, also the longest in Muskegon Lumberjacks history, and an undisclosed fine. Big Snake was eligible to return from his suspension on December 3, 2009, almost a full month after he started his suspension. In “early January”, Big Snake announced he was leaving the team.
