Robert Fleck is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 11, 1965 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Robert William Fleck, a former professional soccer player and manager from Scotland was born 11 August 1965 in Glasgow. Fleck was a striker for the Scottish Premier League for Rangers from 1983 to 2001. He also played in England for Chelsea and Norwich City in both the Football League and the FA Premier League.
In controversial circumstances, he moved to Chelsea for a club record fee of PS2.1million, just before the Premier League’s first season got underway. Norwich rejected the offer, but he forced the deal through by threatening strike action and refusing to play for the club. The deal was a record for Norwich. A clause was added to exclude Fleck from playing against Norwich the first time they met just two weeks later. Despite his fame at Norwich, Fleck was at that time one of the most hated players in Norwich. Fleck was unsuccessful in the move. He scored only four goals in 48 games and was then loaned to Bristol City and Bolton Wanderers. Fleck was not selected for Chelsea’s 1994 FA Cup Final squad, where they lost 4-0 against Manchester United.
Fleck is fourth in the list of Norwich City FC all-time goalscorers, behind Johnny Gavin, Terry Allcock and Iwan Roberts. In 2002, Norwich fans voted him into the club’s Hall of Fame.
After a spell as player-manager with Gorleston, where he won the Norfolk Senior Cup in 2001, he joined Diss Town who play in the Ridgeons League, as manager in the summer of 2002. He won the Norfolk Senior Cup again in 2003 and
- A poor run of form during 2006 saw him sacked on 18 October 2006. Fleck returned to employment with Norwich City in May 2007, when he joined the club’s scouting network.
Fleck played for Reading, Bristol City, and Bolton Wanderers. Fleck was awarded four caps for Scotland, and was a participant in the 1990 World Cup. Fleck joined Dr. Kenny Muir in 2000 to manage the team. He had a stint as player-managers at Non-league Gorleston and then a four year spell in charge at Diss Town. Fleck was inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame. Fleck retired as a football player and has been working in football management. He is currently a teaching assistant in Norwich.

Fleck began his senior career under Jock Wallace as Rangers’ manager. However, it wasn’t until Graeme Souness became a player/manager in 1986 that he really made an impact. He scored 22 goals in 48 games in the 1986-87 season. Fleck scored four hat-tricks in that season’s league matches against Clydebank (twice), Falkirk and in a UEFA Cup match against Ilves Tampere.
Fleck was moved to Norwich City, in the English Football League First Division, for PS580,000 in December 1987. In his first season with the club, Fleck scored 66 goals in 181 games. He was also called up to the Scotland Squad and won 4 caps, 2 of which at the 1990 World Cup. In 1992, Flecky was named Norwich City’s player of the Year. This was his final season at Carrow Road. They finished fourth in the league in 1989. Fleck helped them reach the FA Cup semi-final. However, Fleck and his teammates were unable compete in the UEFA Cup the following season due to the ban on English clubs from European competitions. This was in response to the 1985 Heysel disaster. Fleck was able to help the Canaries reach another FA Cup semifinal in 1992. They lost to Sunderland in the Second Division. Fleck had been injured and returned to this game, but clearly he was not fit.
Fleck re-joined Norwich (who had just been relegated from the Premier League) for £650,000 in September 1995 after a loan spell, to begin with he made an impact forming a solid partnership with Ashley Ward up front, but after Ward was sold due to Norwich’s financial problems, his performance was no where as consistent as in his first spell at Carrow Road, and they failed to make a serious attempt to push for promotion in any of his three seasons back at the club. He moved to Reading towards the end of the 1997–98 season, spending one season at the Berkshire club, and in nine league games he scored once against Luton Town (in the first game at the Madejski Stadium), before injury ended his playing career.
