Wallin was drafted by Farjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League during the 1998-1999 season. The Phoenix Coyotes drafted him in the 6th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft as the 160th overall selection overall. Wallin was traded to Minnesota Wild on June 23, 2000 for Joe Juneau. Wallin signed with Wild in the summer 2002 after he won the 2002 Swedish Championship with Farjestad. Wallin was with Wild for three years, scoring ten points in 19 Wild games. He also scored four assists and six goals. He returned to Sweden in September 2005 and Farjestad in September 2005. He won the second Swedish Championship that season. He signed with Lugano, Swiss Nationalliga A. However, he only stayed one season with Lugano. In 2007, he returned to Farjestad as team captain and helped the team win another SHL championship in 2009.
Wallin signed a one year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in July 2009. Wallin returned to the NHL in 2009 and played 60 games. However, he was unable contribute offensively consistently with just 2 goals and 7 assists in 9 games in 2009.
On April 27, 2016, Wallin officially announced his retirement.
