He is a United States Professional Tennis Association Master Professional and seven-time USPTA National Coach of the Year. He has trained five top-ranked players, including Andy Roddick and Jennifer Capriati, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.
Macci was awarded the 2005 Alex Gordon Award as USPTA Professional Of The Year.
In 2010, he was inducted into the USPTA Florida Hall of Fame. He serves as a consultant on the USTA Player Development Program in Boca Raton, Florida.
On 13th October 2017 Macci was inducted into the USPTA Hall of Fame USPTA Professionals to become the 19th professional honored, and youngest ever to be inducted.
He founded the Rick Macci International Tennis Academy, Haines City, Florida in 1985. It was located at the Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort. Tommy Ho and Jennifer Capriati were his students. In 1992, the Macci Academy moved from Haines City to Delray Beach.

Macci began his tennis career in the 1970s as a pro at Bob Schul’s Sports Complex, Troy, Ohio. He became the tennis pro at the Sinnet Indoor Tennis Club, Vineland in the late 1970s. In 1979, he was the #1 ranked adult player in New Jersey.
Macci was born in Greenville, Ohio to parents Norma Macci (née Macci) and Santi Macci (née Macci). He graduated from Greenville Senior High School in 1973. Rick was the Ohio’s top-ranked under-18 tennis player after two years at Wright State University. Macci was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his achievements in tennis and basketball in Greenville, Ohio.
In 2010, Macci was inducted into the USPTA Florida Hall of Fame.
