Rick Berg is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on August 16, 1959 in Maddock, North Dakota, United States. Richard Alan Berg, born August 16, 1959, is an American politician. He was the U.S. Rep for North Dakota’s at large congressional district from 2011 through 2013. Berg was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Berg is a Republican Party member. He was a member of the Republican Party before he was elected to Congress in 2010. Berg announced on May 16, 2011 that he would be running for the United States Senate seat vacant by Kent Conrad, a Democratic incumbent. Heidi Heitkamp won narrowly on November 6, 2012.

After redistricting in 2002, he decided that he would run for the 45th House District. He won with 31%. He was reelected with 28% in 2006.

In 2007 Berg voted on ND House Bill 1489, which proposed making abortion a class AA felony, even in the case of rape and incest.

Berg has voted to curtail EPA regulations, stating: “In North Dakota, we know the damaging effects that overreaching government regulations can have on our small businesses and their ability to create jobs.” He has also proposed drilling for oil in federal lands, including North Dakota’s own Theodore Roosevelt National Park, as a way to provide funding for Social Security. In 2009, he was presented with the Greater North Dakotan Award by the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce for his support of business interests.

He was elected Chairman of the House Republican caucus in 1991. He briefly held the office of Speaker of the House in 1993. He was elected the House Majority Leader in 2003.

After graduating from college, he founded Midwest Management Company in 1982. This became Goldmark Property Management (in 1994). Fargo’s real-estate management company. He moved to an affiliate commercial property company that was spun off of Midwest in 1987. He founded Goldmark Commercial Corporation in 1996 with some of his early partners from Midwest. It has since been renamed Goldmark Schlossman Commercial Real Estate.

Berg ran first for the North Dakota House of Representatives, in 1984 in the 10th House District. He is based in Fargo. He was elected and reelected four times more, until his 2010 congressional run.
