Richard Michael Shaffer, born March 15, 1991, is an American retired professional baseball infielder. He is currently a Twitch live video game personality under the name “Dicky Danger”. He was a former player in Major League Baseball (MLB), for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has been writing fiction since he retired from baseball. He also plans to publish his first novel, The Eight of Earth (A Valenian Sci Fi Novel), sometime in the spring.

The Rays traded Taylor Motter and Shaffer to the Seattle Mariners on November 18, 2016. They also received Andrew Kittredge and Dalton Kelly. After acquiring Chris Heston, Shaffer was designated by the Mariners for assignment on December 7.

Shaffer was signed to a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on July 20th, 2018. After being signed, he was sent to Triple A Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He became a free agent after the season.

On April 11, 2019, Shaffer signed with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He became a free agent following the season.

Shaffer was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 25th round in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. He was drafted out of Providence High School, Charlotte, North Carolina. He didn’t sign, and he attended Clemson University. Shaffer was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians on January 26, 2017, and then designated for assignment by them on January 30. Shaffer was subsequently outrighted to the minor leagues on February 2, 2017. He was released from the organization on June 6, 2018.
