Richard Regehr, a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman, was born January 17, 1983. Regehr is the older brother of Robyn Regehr, a former Stanley Cup-winning defenceman.
He moved to Germany in the 2007-08 season and joined Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL club Frankfurt Lions). He signed the following year with Eisbaren Berlin, another DEL side.
Regehr returned to Germany at the conclusion of his contract with Modo, signing a one-year deal with EHC München of the DEL on May 26, 2014. He eventually stayed in München until the conclusion of the 2016–17 season. He had won back-to-back German championships with München in 2016 and 2017 and signed with EC KAC of the Austrian Hockey League in May 2017.
Regehr was the Knights’ teammate Mark Giordano, who was recalled to Calgary Flames. Regehr played at the Canadian AHL All-Star Team 2006. In the All-Star match, Regehr scored a goal as well as an assist.

Regehr signed on July 6th 2004 as a free agent by the Calgary Flames as an undrafted player. This was the same team that Robyn played for. Richie Regehr was a player for the Lowell Lock Monsters during the NHL lockout of 2005. They were an American Hockey League affiliate to the Flames. He was assigned to Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, the Flames’ new farm hockey team, during the 2005-06 season. Regehr was called up to Calgary after sustaining injuries to Roman Hamrlik and Rhett Warrener, defensemen late in 2005.
He wore his brother Robyn’s uniform and was credited with the assist for the game-winning goal in his first National Hockey League match on December 29, 2005. After just three games, the Flames sent Regehr back to the Ak-Sar Ben Knights. However, he was recalled on January 7. Calgary recalled Regehr on February 2, 2006.
After four impressive seasons with Berlin and winning three German championships with the club, Regehr left to sign a two-year contract in the Swedish Elitserien with Modo Hockey on April 25, 2012.
