Richard Whiting, also known as “Superman” and born (1984-12-20 ), 20 December 1984, is an English former professional rugby league footballer. He last played for Toronto Wolfpack in Kingstone Press Championship. He was a utility player, and could play in many positions.
He played in the Championship for both the Featherstone Rovers & the Leigh Centurions. However, he spent the majority of his professional life in Super League with Hull FC. With whom he won 2005’s Challenge Cup and was named Super League Young Player of Year in 2005.
In 2016, Richard moved to Leigh on a 2-month loan after falling down the pecking order. He made his début for Leigh in the 24-20 win over London Broncos. In April 2016 Whiting signed for Leigh on a permanent basis, ending his 12-year stint at Hull.
Whiting joined Hull F.C. In 2004, Whiting joined Hull F.C. He made 24 appearances in 2005 and was also named the league’s Young player of the year. Whiting was Hull’s centre player in the Challenge Cup final 2005, scoring a try against Leeds. Hull defeated St. Helens in the 2006 Super League Grand Final. Whiting was on the substitutes’ bench during his side’s 426-26 defeat.
