Richard M. Cox is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on March 12, 1963 in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom. Richard Martin Cox, an English cricketer, was born 12 March 1963. He has also been a coach and administrator. He was a Minor Counties cricket player for Herefordshire and served various administrative positions, including as CEO of Royal Dutch Cricket Board from 2009 to 2015. Cox returned to England to lead Cricket Shropshire from April 2015 to November 2016, when he was appointed Regional Manager for West Midlands by the ECB.
Cox was appointed Director of Warwickshire Cricket Board in 1998. He is responsible for all aspects of Recreational Cricket in Warwickshire. The Independent published a report in 1998 stating that the WCB had “actively open doors” for British Asian communities, and set an example for England. Cox was also named director of Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s academy in 2006. He was a member of the Management Board at Warwickshire County Cricket Club from 2006 to July 2009. In July 2009, he was removed from his roles.
During his other coaching activities Cox’s notable achievements included overseeing the production line of players at Warwickshire notably Wagh Singh Powell Troughton Bell and Westwood and more latterly Woakes and Moeen Ali. He was also appointed and ran the ICC Europe Academies for men and women from 1999-2009 whilst picking up coaching experience in many countries around the world. During his time in Holland he coached the Dutch Women’s teams to European Championship success in 2012 and ECB T20 tournament successes in 2013 and 2014. He remains a mentor to ECB Level 3 and 4 coaches working alongside many current players and coaches at first class clubs as well as the Womens Game. In 2018 Cox was appointed to the position of National Coach of the Cyprus team that competed in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in the Netherlands.
He quickly acquired the post of Director of Cricket at the locally renowned sporting and academic institution Bromsgrove School where he coached Cricket and Badminton until December 2009.
Cox was born in Birmingham and went to King Edward’s School. He represented Herefordshire at the Minor Counties Championship in 1992 and 1993.

Cox began his career as a Cricket Development Officer at Warwickshire County Cricket Club in 1989. Cox was one of four first appointed in the UK. Cox was Director of Youth Cricket and Director of Cricket during his 22-year tenure at Edgbaston. Cox was responsible for the coordination of all aspects of cricket, including club, county and school games. This group became the Warwickshire Cricket Board. Cox is still an active coach education tutor and continues to mentor aspiring coaches for the ECB. He also works alongside ECB Level 3 coaches as they pursue their careers in the game. Cox was a member of many ECB bodies throughout his career, including the ECB Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League, where he played for 44 years until his retirement in 2018.
Cox was both a Senior Staff Coach, Educator and the first ever ECB Level 4-Coach in Warwickshire. He was invited to coach Gibraltar’s national team in
- His first major tournament as a coach was the 1994 ICC Trophy in Kenya. He was also the coach of Gibraltar at the 2001 and 1997 editionss of the ICC Trophy as well as other European competitions. Under Cox’s guidance, Gibraltar won two European Division 2 titles in 2001 and 2003.
In 1998, Cox also played in the latter competition for the Warwickshire Cricket Board. His club cricket was played in the Birmingham and District League, for the West Bromwich Dartmouth and Halesowen clubs. A longtime member of the Marylebone Cricket Club, Cox was a member of an MCC side that toured Gibraltar in 1993, playing a series of matches against local teams.
