Richard Chinapoo is one of the most popular and richest Soccer Manager who was born on January 18, 1957 in San Juan, San Juan- Laventille Regional Corporation, Trinidad and Tobago. Richard Chinapoo, born January 18, 1957, was a Trinidadian soccer defender. He had a long career, mostly in the United States. Chinapoo played in the North American Soccer League for two seasons, as well as eight seasons in the National Professional Soccer League. He also spent at least eight years in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Chinapoo also played for the Trinidad and Tobago National Team.

Chinapoo was appointed a player-coach for the Harrisburg Heat in 1998. Chinapoo became a full-time coach after he retired in 2001. He was named the NPSL Coaches of the Year in 2001. After posting a record of 10-34 during the 2001-2002 season the Heat management released Chinapoo on August 11, 2002. He is currently Technical Director for the Capital Area Soccer Association, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Chinapoo signed a one-year contract with the New York Cosmos, North American Soccer League on March 16, 1982. Chinapoo spent two seasons in New York. Chinapoo was reportedly a player for San Juan Jabloteh and Malvern clubs in Trinidad, according to some sources. However, the dates are not known. He joined the Baltimore Blast (MISL) at some point. Chinapoo was signed by the Dallas Sidekicks as a free agent on September 8, 1988. Chinapoo spent two seasons with the Sidekicks, before returning home to Baltimore on August 6, 1990. Chinapoo was signed by the Sidekicks as a free agent on October 15, 1991. He played for just one year during this time. The 1992 collapse of MISL meant that many teams and players jumped to National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in 1992. Chinapoo signed with the Harrisburg Heat (NPSL) after leaving Dallas. Chinapoo would stay in Harrisburg throughout his professional career and retired from playing in 2000. On November 3, 2001, he was inducted into Heat Hall of Fame.

Chinapoo attended Trinity College in Trinidad for his first college education. He entered Long Island University, the United States in 1978. He was also a member of the Long Island University men’s soccer team, where he earned second team All American recognition in 1978 1979, 1980, and 1980. He was named a first-team All-American in 1981. After finishing his four seasons with Blackbirds, he had fifty-five career goals. He was also inducted into Long Island’s University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

In the summer of 2012, Richard was named the head coach of the new Professional Arena Soccer League team, the Harrisburg Heat. He will retire from coaching and move to Florida after the 2013–14 Harrisburg Heat season.
