Richard Brian Pilon, a retired Canadian ice hockey player from Metis heritage was born April 30, 1968. The New York Islanders drafted him 143rd in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. In his 15-year NHL playing career, Pilon was a defenseman. He is currently the coach for the Weyburn Red Wings in The SJHL.

Pilon was born in Saskatoon but grew up near St. Louis in Saskatchewan. The Washington Capitals drafted his son Garrett in the third round, 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

He played 62 games and recorded 14 assists. Before being placed on waivers, he would play 10 seasons with the Islanders. The New York Rangers then signed him on December 1, 1999. He was injured and only played part of two seasons with the Rangers before being traded to San Jose Sharks for a seventh-round draft pick. This trade occurred days before he became unrestricted, free agent in 2001. The St. Louis Blues signed him on July 10, 2001. After eight games with the Blues, he broke his left wrist playing against the Rangers. This resulted in the end of his NHL career.
