Rhiner Allen Cruz Montero, a Dominican professional pitcher, was born November 1, 1986. He is currently a free agent. He was a Major League Baseball (MLB), for the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays. He also played in Nippon Professional Baseball for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. He was a member of Team Spain at the 2019 European Baseball Championship. He was a member of the team that participated in the Africa/Europe 2020 Olympic Qualification tournament in September 2019 in Italy.

The Astros made Cruz the first overall pick in the Rule 5 draft 2011. Cruz was added to the Astros’ Opening Day roster. Cruz played in the majors during the Astros’ 2012 season. He also spent parts of the 2013 season with the Astros in the majors. Cruz was released from the 40-man roster and sent outright to Oklahoma City RedHawks on December 23, 2013. Cruz began 2016 with RedHawks, before he was released on June 2, 2014. He wanted to go to Japan and pursue a job.

On December 13, 2016, Cruz signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves. He spent the year with the Gwinnett Braves before he elected free agency on November 6, 2017.

On May 18, 2016, Cruz signed with the Vaqueros Laguna, and was released on May 22.
