Persepolis attempted to acquire Haghighi in the summer 2012 but Fajr Sepasi turned down Persepolis’s undisclosed offer (reported EUR220,000). Haghighi had to remain at Fajr Sepasi. Haghighi joined Persepolis in November 2012, after the teams came to an agreement over his transfer terms during the 12th Iran Pro League’s mid-season transfer window. He signed a 2.5-year contract that lasted until the end the 2014-15 season. In the 2012-13 Hazfi Cup Round 32, he made his debut for Persepolis against Malavan with a 6-0 victory. On 28 February 2013, he scored his first goal in Persepolis’ match against Saipa. He was officially released by Persepolis on December 27, 2014. With 61 appearances, he scored 3 goals to end his career at Persepolis.
Haghighi joined Saba Qom in the summer of 2015 with a two–year contract. He was released before mid season having only played six matches for the club.
On 10 October 2016, Haghighi returned to Padideh by signing a seven-month contract.
Carlos Queiroz named him in the Iran squad on 12 February 2012. He made his debut against Jordan on 23 Feb 2012. Carlos Queiroz called him into Iran’s 2014 FIFA World Cup team on 1 June 2014.
