Lasse Mellberg, born 2 October 1977, is a Finnish rapper. 2003 was his breakthrough year. Redrama, who performs in English but also in Swedish, Finnish, and English, was part of the hip-hop group Alien Allies that also included Madcon and the Norwegian Paperboys. Redrama won the English-language Finnish championship for rapping in 2001. He also won the Finnish Grammy award (Emma), for the Best Hip Hop Album 2005.
Redrama’s third studio album, The Getaway was released by Rahina Records, Finland’s most prominent hip-hop label. The album’s first single was “Music”.
In 2012, the news spread that Redrama was working in Amsterdam together with A.J. McLean of Backstreet Boys. New single release, “Clouds”, featuring A.J. McLean, was released in May 2013. Despite the lack of large marketing campaigns, the news about the single were reported widely all over the world mainly through the Backstreet Boys fan websites and blogs. “Clouds” was the first single release for Redrama’s studio album Reflection.
Redrama was awarded the European Border Breakers Award and joined Gang Starr as a support artist during their European Tour. Redrama’s first duet was recorded in 2007 with Paleface, a popular Finnish rapper. The single “Still in Charge” reached number four on the Finnish Single Charts. This was the beginning of the collaboration between the two most popular Finnish English- speaking rappers. The collaboration grew when Paleface and Redrama were joined by CapeNape, a singer and reggae musician, and Promoe of Looptroop Rockers, a Swedish hip-hop artist. Conscious Youth was the name of the four rappers who toured Finland. One album was released in Finland by the group.
