Ray Herring, an Australian rugby league ex-professional rugby league footballer, played for three Queensland clubs during the 1980s/90s. Herring was the one who threw that pass that hit Mario Fenech in his head. This led to the name “Falcon”.
Herring moved back to Brisbane in 1995 and joined the South Queensland Crushers franchise. He was present at the 11th March 1995 match, but he only participated in five matches during the season before deciding to retire.
He joined the Gold Coast in 1991, after which he changed clubs. Over the next four-years, Herring participated in 56 matches for the club and often began at hooker. The club was not competitive.
