He played with the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL), Pittsburgh Penguins (pennsylt, Atlanta Thrashers, and the Nashville Predators.

Abid signed a one year contract with Nashville Predators on July 21, 2006. Abid enjoyed a great pre-season. He scored a hat trick in an 8-1 victory over the Blue Jackets in September 2006. Abid was then transferred to an affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals before the start of 2006-07 season. Abid was an injury replacement for the Predators during the season and played 13 games. Ramzi was called up by the Predators on April 18, 2007 and made his playoff debut against San Jose Sharks during the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

On June 11, 2010, Abid again a free agent, signed a one-year contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg that also included a one-year option, a team playing in the EBEL.

In August 2009, he signed with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League for the 2009–10 season. After 33 games with Traktor he left the KHL on January 31, 2010. On February 1, 2010, Abid agreed to a contract with Rögle BK.

Ramzi Abid, who was most often a left-winger, was first selected by Colorado Avalanche in round 28 of 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He was then drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in round 85 of 2000 NHL Entry Draft. On March 11, 2003, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Dan Focht, Guillaume Lefebvre, for Jan Hrdina, and Francois Leroux.

Abid was a young player in the 1994 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, playing with a Quebec minor ice hockey team, Longueuil.
