Rami Ollaik is one of the most popular and richest Author who was born on November 2, 1972 in Khiam, Nabatieh Governorate, Lebanon. Rami Ollaik, born 1972, is a Lebanese author, activist, lawyer, and professor of beekeeping at the American University of Beirut. He was also the founder and initiator the 10 October Revolution, the Lebanon Ahead movement. His autobiography, The Bees Road (Tryq.lnHl), is his most well-known work.
The author’s third and final book in the trilogy, Lost In The Barn is a story about real life events between 2008 and 2010. The journey from Hezbollah and true patriotism takes the author through identity crisis, meticulous spying, hope for justice, and ends with encountering the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. A father who has witnessed all of the sufferings in the past is finally able to leave behind his son.
Under The Green Waters is a work of nonfiction, a literary autobiographical account of the author’s story from its writing to its release in 2008 and the aftermath. The story, following the popularity of his first book in Lebanon, traces his formation of the idealistic post-partisan unity movement Lebanon Ahead. The story follows the release of his unprecedented publication where he shows the behind-the-scenes nature of democracy in the Middle East, the intricately calibrated intimidation campaigns, and the problematic practices of US-Mid East relations. While these themes remain poignant, it is also a story of love, betrayal, fear, hope, and devastating heartbreak.
In 2009, Ollaik founded Lebanon Ahead, a movement aimed at improving the country and changing it into a peaceful and democratic nation by creating a platform of communication and understanding among citizens. Through it, he founded a coalition of independent democratic civic forces “Takaddom” and ran with two other candidates on Lebanon Ahead’s ticket in the general parliamentary elections.
Rami Ollaik has been beekeeping since his childhood. To study agriculture, which was the closest field to beekeeping at that time, he joined the American University of Beirut (AUB). His MS thesis, which dealt with the economic and marketing modeling for apiculture in Lebanon, was his first scientific approach to beekeeping. In 1998, he began to conduct applied research on honeybees from both local and imported sources to determine their productivity and adaptability to local production conditions. This helped him to establish a superior stock. Ollaik gained international exposure and increased his knowledge while completing his doctorate at the University of Florida. Rami’s love for bees inspired him to continue his father’s work in developing the beekeeping industry throughout Lebanon. He taught, researched and provided extension services at AUB. Ollaik was first to integrate beekeeping in the AUB’s Faculty of Agriculture & Food Sciences curriculum. He also designed the first beekeepers’ calendar for Lebanon, focused on integrated pest management and added scientific guidelines to honey production, marketing, and distribution. AUB hosted the first and second national scientific conference for modernizing and improving beekeeping practices.
